Big Trip '99 - At The Lake & New England
If this album is very large it will take several minutes to load. Option buttons will appear in this location when the album is completely loaded.

Three days before we arrived, the lake was down almost two feed from lack of rain. Two days before we arrived, Hurricane Floyd arrived and in twelve hours filled the lake to spring time levels. Wow! A little clean up and the place really looked good!
The same day we arrived, Kim and her boyfriend, Mike, drove in from Pennsylvania. We hadn't seen Kim in two years. Great to have her here.
Mike and Kim out on the patio boat.
"Just one quick kiss, Bill, please!"
Kiska liked it out on the water even better than he likes to ride in the car.
Sunday morning we had a Y2K breakfast. From left to right. Sally, Kim, Mike, Larry, Sherry and Fred. One of the things we wanted to do on our trip was to meet some of our Y2K Internet friends.
Just a quick shot out the fromt door. Lake sure was full. The boat races that were to be held this weekend had been cancled due to low water.
Bill's brother, Larry, is restoring a 1950's racing boat. The boat is a Forest Johnson Prowler "F" service runabout
The frame up restoration has been underway for about six years. Target finish date is summer of 2001.
Big block Chevy power should move it along at nearly eighty miles per hour.
We brought along the electric fence so Kiska could play in the yard and even go out on the dock.
On Sunday afternoon, Larry put on a great party. Lots of old friends from Bill's boat racing days and some new friends that we had only met on the Internet.
This is "Wind" from the Internet with Sally. "Wind" lives at Lake Hopatcong. Small world!
Ready to launch a water balloon with the good old faithful "Ballooney Lobber."
This is the Y2K Internet group: "Sierra", "Wind", "TM", "Hatch" and "Wizz" in the back.
Bill and Larry check out "Hatch" on the spud gun.
Off for a late afternoon float trip.
On Tuesday, Sally, Kiska and Bill left the lake in the rain for a quick trip through New England. It was two weeks before Bill's fortieth prep school reunion so we were off to New Hampshire to check in. This was all new territory for Sally. Here we are crossing the George Washington Bridge.
A few hours later we found ourselves in Vermont. The rain had stopped but the weather was NOT very pleasant. This is just a pretty wooded stream next to an old mill.
Bill hadn't been back to New Hampton School since he left in June of 1959. His fortieth reunion was to be held in two weeks. Too bad the timing didn't work out better.
This is Barry Hall, the main entrance to the school, founded in 1821.
Bill and Kiska in front of Barry Hall. The school mascot is The Husky, so Kiska fit right in. The weather is still gray and gloomy.
Meals are now served cafeteria style in the beautiful new dining room. When Bill attended New Hampton, breakfast and lunch was served family style with one student acting as waiter. Oh, the girls are new, too!
Bill and Chris, the director of alumni relations.
Not much Fall color yet, just the edges are starting to turn golden.
Our eastern most stop was on the coast of Maine in Ogunquit.
What else but a lobster dinner when in Maine?
Early the next morning, Kiska was ready to "hit the road Jack" back to Lake Hopatcong.
Crossing the Hudson River, about 40 miles north of New York City.
With the sun finally shining and Hurricane Floyd's influence no longer a concern, we arrived back at the Lake.
A view of the house from the dock.
....and off to Kings Point on Friday, September 24, 1999 to see Jay for the first time since he left Nevada in July. Can't wait!!!
